Flottila

This is a flottila of battleships I have designed long, LONG ago, and that I found out in an old binder last month. I scanned and re-worked them a bit, and here they are.
I do not draw Science Fiction often at all, and since I still think they look good, posting this was kinda a must.

The principle of those is that they are lightweight fighters, flying in such a formation on purpose. Every one of them is mounted with guns, but the middle one has the heavy firepower. Being light ships, they haven't enough energy to power their deflector shields and heavy weaponry. Actually, the deflectors are incredibly effective, but they also consume such a tremendous amount of energy even a lightly armed ship can't have deflectors on all sides.
That's why they got designed like this.
Each ship is made to old a specific spot in the formation, and so the deflectors are placed to protect one of it's sides,
the heavily armed but deflectorless fighter being in the middle of the "cocoon". (it's the only ship that has two places btw)
That way, the flottila is protected from any attack, 'cept front(where they can shoot) and back (where their reactor fires).
The pilots are flying in total cooperation, making them a super efficient battle formation.
Of course, if they somehow find themselves separated, they all have weaponry, and most have minor deflectors on their other sides, but they aren't as efficient as any other solo fighter in such case, are in great danger.
